Homework: Day 7 [ Cardovascular What ?? ]

“Cardiovascular What??” “Cardiovascular Who??” “What does this have to do with me?” Well don’t you worry your pretty little head, I’m going to get to that momentarily : )

Cardiovascular Disease is the leading cause of death in men and women in the United States; as a matter of fact one in every three deaths is due to either heart disease or a stroke, which is equal to 2,200 deaths per day…

( I bet that caught your attention).

And since I have your attention I might as well continue….

If someone has heart disease they might feel Angina

Angina: chest discomfort or pain due to poor blood flow going through the cormorant arteries.

OR they might have a Myocardial Infarction, otherwise known as a Heart Attack

Heart Attack: blood flow to some part of the heart is blocked causing damage or death to the heart muscle.

What caused the build up you might ask?

Plaque is what builds up in the arteries which leads to the blockage of blood flow. Plaque is mostly made up of cholesterol, bad cholesterol that you can get from eating unhealthy food.  So the first step to prevent Myocardial Infarction is eating healthy and staying in shape.

Angina is also called as angina pectoris and this gives you chest pains which are very painful and can cause lot of stress. This pain is mainly due to myocardial ischemia which means lack of daily quota of blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle. The reason for lagging behind in supply is mainly due blockages in one or more arteries of the heart. This pain is mainly felt as an uncomfortable pressure, heaviness, squeezing of the muscles, tightening and the continuous ache. This pain is mainly felt in the breastbone and branches out in areas like the neck, jaw, thigh, arms, back, shoulder and sometimes in rare incidents may also occur in teeth.`
